EIA Publishes Regional Electricity Supply and Pricing Forecasts Using UPLAN Model

LCG, August 13, 2019--The U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) announced that it is revising the presentation and modeling of its forecasts for electricity supply and market hub pricing to better reflect current electricity markets and system operations in the U.S. Beginning with the August 2019 Short-Term Energy Outlook (STEO), the new forecasting approach models electricity markets using the UPLAN production cost optimization software developed by LCG Consulting. Vendor for 100-MW Minnesota Wind Farm Selected

LCG, Aug. 6, 2003--Talks are to begin between the Great River Energy cooperative organization and TRIMONT WIND, a group of local investors in a wind development project who live in the area of Minnesota where 100 megawatts of new capacity are planned.

The proposal by TRIMONT WIND was selected over those by other bidders as the one offering the lowest cost and appropriate connections to transmission. Access to delivery points is more direct than it would otherwise be for a project outside the service territory of Great River member cooperatives.

The TRIMONT Area Wind Farm, LLC, would be able to produce power by 2005, and would be sited in Martin and Jackson counties. TRIMONT WIND would own and operate the wind farm, which is close to the Lakefield Junction Station power plant. The investors who make up TRIMONT are customers of South Central Electric Association, itself a member cooperative of Great River Energy.
